The Summer I Learned to Fly
by Dana Reinhardt
Summary: Drew is looking forward to the summer when she'll be working in her mom's cheese shop with the oh-so-handsome Nick. But, then she meets Emmett and the summer takes a completely different turn.
Thoughts: I really like Dana Reinhardt's writing. This novel is a bit different from her other books because Drew is a slightly younger main character, and the story seems to be somewhat autobiographical. It is a charming, quiet novel about going through changes, learning, growing, figuring out who you are. I liked the characters and even Drew's pet rat. :) I also loved the author's use of the journal Drew found that her father left behind. For those looking for an uplifiting story about friendship, possibilites and hope, try The Summer I Learned to Fly.
